NEW NET Issues List for 15 Apr 2007

Steve Jobs is unquestionably one of the most charismatic CEOs in the news, and the quote below from the recent Apple shareholder meeting only reinforced that point, with his quip placing first in the competition for Tech Quote of the Week.

Shareholders pressed Jobs about what determines his compensation. Jobs has for years taken $1 a year in salary, and the Apple co-founder said: "I get 50 cents a year for just showing up. The other 50 cents is based on my performance."

Oh, by the way, Steve was the Fortune 500's top paid CEO. In some ways it's nice when the top person is rewarded primarily for their company's stock doing well. On the other hand, I abhor favorable monthly and quarterly financial numbers being the sole focus of a company. Fortunately, Steve's prime directive does not appear to be the short term numbers that most of Wall Street seems to focus on.

Below is the final list of issues for the TUESDAY, 15 May 02007, NEW NET (Northeast Wisconsin Network for Economy and Technology) 6:59 - 9:00 pm weekly gathering upstairs at Tom's Drive In, 501 N Westhill Blvd, Appleton, Wisconsin, USA. Lots of interesting tech news this week. Too many articles listed below, but they were all good, and I didn't have time to winnow out the least deserving.
